Designed by Anshen & Allen Architects and constructed by Elliott Building & Civil Engineering, the development represents a significant investment in modern healthcare infrastructure for the region.

For this landmark project, McMonagle Stone supplied Donegal Slate Rubble Walling Stone and Black Limestone Wall Capping, providing durable and visually striking natural stone finishes throughout key external areas of the hospital.

The Brief

As one of Northern Ireland's largest healthcare developments, the South West Acute Hospital required high-quality, long-lasting materials capable of complementing the contemporary architectural design while withstanding heavy public use and exposure to the elements.

The project team sought natural stone products that would deliver both aesthetic appeal and exceptional durability for external landscaping and walling features throughout the hospital grounds.

McMonagle Stone supplied Donegal Slate Random Rubble Walling Stone, which features prominently throughout the development and can be seen in the project gallery below. The natural texture and distinctive blue-grey tones of the slate create an attractive and timeless finish that complements the surrounding landscape.

In addition, we supplied bespoke Black Limestone Wall Capping for the window sills, stone walls and an external stepped area leading from the hospital car park. The sleek finish of the limestone provides a practical and durable solution while adding a refined architectural detail to the external works.
