The Wall House - 2018 Building of the Year Awards
The Wall House | Niall Smith Architects
The Wall House is a striking contemporary residential project designed by the award-winning Niall Smith Architects, based in Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. McMonagle Stone was delighted to supply natural stone materials for this exceptional home.
Inspired by the Irish rural landscape, the design features a series of dry-built grey sandstone walls that define and separate a variety of internal and external spaces. These walls extend seamlessly through the interior of the home, creating a strong architectural rhythm, while the staircase appears to cantilever effortlessly from the stone structure within the dramatic double-height entrance hall.
The exterior walls are finished with our Irish Blue Limestone coping, adding a refined and durable detail to the overall design. Between the stone elements, floor-to-ceiling glazed panels open the home to the surrounding landscape and connect to three outdoor terraces of varying scale.
These external living spaces extend the footprint of the house, enhancing its usable area and are completed using McMonagle Stone’s Moov Grey 600 x 600 x 20mm exterior porcelain tiles, delivering a contemporary and durable outdoor finish.
