Sizes Available
800 x 400 x 20mm Porcelain Tiles Porcelain tiles are produced from a unique blend of clay, sand, and feldspar, then fired at high temperatures, making them denser and harder than ceramic tiles.
Advantages
Versatile Use: Suitable for both internal and external applications.
Modern Design: Features larger sizes and consistent colour.
Durability: Higher resistance to wear and tear compared to ceramic tiles.
Rectified Edges: Allows for narrow, even joint gaps.
Low Maintenance: Easy to clean and maintain.
High Moisture Resistance: Absorbs less water, ideal for wet areas.
Resistant to Scratches: Perfect for high-traffic areas.
Disadvantages
Brittleness: Can be more brittle and challenging to cut.
Batch Variability: Colour, texture, and size may vary between batches. Porcelain Batch Warning Porcelain is manufactured in batches, so there may be variations in colour, texture, and size.
To ensure consistency:
Order Complete Quantity: Purchase your entire requirement from the same batch.
Extra Stock: Order an additional 3–5% to cover any potential replacements.
Batch Records: Keep a record of the ‘batch colour code’ on the packaging. Note that McMonagle Stone cannot guarantee stock from specific batches and does not maintain batch number records.
Porcelain Installation
Quartz Silver porcelain tiles can be used for:
Internal Flooring: Typically 10mm thickness.
External Flooring: Generally 20mm–30mm thickness.
Wall Applications: Depending on weight and application.
High Moisture Areas: Suitable for wet rooms and pool areas.
For best results, we recommend employing an experienced and reputable professional who specialises in porcelain tiles. It is advisable to lay the tiles using stack bond or third bond patterns to manage tile variances. Avoid half bond patterns as they may highlight inconsistencies and cause issues such as visible bends or water pooling.
