Porcelain tiles are made from a specific mix of clay, sand, and feldspar, and are fired at higher temperatures than ceramic tiles. This process results in tiles that are denser and harder, making them a superior choice for durability.

Disadvantages

Brittleness: More brittle and challenging to cut. Batch Variations: Potential for differences in colour, texture, and sizes between batches. 

Porcelain Batch Warning

Porcelain is manufactured in batches, which may cause variations in colour, texture, and size. The porcelain you view as a sample may differ from the delivered product.

To ensure consistency:

Order Full Quantity: Purchase the complete quantity needed from the same batch.

Extra Tiles: Order an additional 3–5% to cover potential damage or breakage.

Batch Records: Keep a record of the ‘batch colour code’ from the packaging.

Porcelain Installation

ETNA Porcelain can be used for:

Internal Flooring: Typically 10mm thickness.

External Flooring: Typically 20mm–30mm thickness.

Walls: Suitable depending on weight and application.

High Moisture Areas: Ideal for wet rooms and pool areas.

For best results, hire an experienced professional with a proven track record in laying porcelain tiles. It is advisable to lay the tiles in either stack bond or third bond patterns due to variances. Half bond patterns may highlight these variances and could result in water pooling.
