Sizes Available
900 x 600 x 20mm Porcelain Tiles Porcelain tiles are made from a blend of clay, sand, and feldspar, and are fired at high temperatures, resulting in a dense and durable material that is harder than ceramic tiles.
Advantages
Versatile Applications: Suitable for both internal and external settings.
Modern Design: Features large sizes and consistent colour for a sleek look.
Enhanced Durability: More resistant to wear and tear compared to ceramic tiles, ideal for high-traffic areas.
Rectified Edges: Allows for precise and narrow joint gaps.
Low Maintenance: Easy to clean and maintain.
Moisture Resistant: Absorbs less water, making it suitable for wet areas.
Scratch and Scuff Resistance: Durable in high footfall areas.
Disadvantages
Brittleness: Can be more fragile and challenging to cut.
Batch Variability: Colour, texture, and size may vary between different batches.
Porcelain Batch Warning
Porcelain is produced in batches, so there may be variations in colour, texture, and size.
To ensure consistency:
Order Full Quantity: Purchase all tiles from the same batch to avoid discrepancies.
Additional Tiles: Order 3–5% extra to cover future repairs or replacements.
Batch Records: Keep a record of the ‘batch colour code’ from the packaging.
McMonagle Stone cannot guarantee specific batch availability or maintain records of delivered batches.
Porcelain Installation
Station White porcelain paving is suitable for:
Internal Flooring: Typically 10mm thickness.
External Flooring: Usually 20mm–30mm thickness.
Walls: Depending on tile weight.
High Moisture Areas: Suitable for wet rooms and pool areas.
For optimal results, enlist a skilled and reputable paver with experience in laying porcelain tiles. Use stack bond or third bond patterns to manage tile variances. Avoid half bond patterns, as these can highlight inconsistencies and cause visible bends and water pooling.
