Porcelain Tiles

Porcelain tiles are made from a unique mixture of clay, sand, and feldspar, and are fired at a higher temperature than ceramic tiles, resulting in a denser and harder material.

Advantages

Versatile Use: Suitable for both internal and external applications.

Modern Aesthetics: Provides contemporary designs with larger sizes and consistent colour.

Durability: More robust and long-lasting compared to ceramic tiles, making them ideal for high-traffic areas.

Precision: Rectified edges ensure consistent, narrow joint gaps.

Low Maintenance: Easy to clean and maintain.

Moisture Resistance: Absorbs less water, ideal for wet areas.

Scratch Resistance: Withstands scratches and scuff marks effectively.

Disadvantages

Brittleness: More prone to breakage and challenging to cut.

Batch Variations: Potential differences in colour, texture, and size between batches.

Porcelain Batch Warning

Since porcelain is manufactured in batches, variations in colour, texture, and size may occur. The porcelain you view as a sample may differ from the delivered product. To ensure consistency: Order Full Quantity: Purchase all required tiles from the same batch. Extra Tiles: Order an additional 3–5% to cover any future replacements. Batch Records: Keep track of the ‘batch colour code’ from the packaging. Please note that McMonagle Stone does not guarantee specific batch stock or maintain batch records.

Porcelain Installation

Absolute Light Grey porcelain tiles are suitable for:

Internal Flooring: Typically 10mm thickness.

External Flooring: Typically 20mm–30mm thickness.

Walls: Depending on tile weight.

High Moisture Areas: Ideal for wet rooms and pool areas.

For optimal results, we recommend using an experienced and reputable professional with a proven track record in laying porcelain tiles. We advise using stack bond or third bond patterns to accommodate tile variances. Half bond patterns may highlight these variances, potentially leading to visible bends and water pooling.
